Barrett Mediation Group is proud to welcome Judge Theresa Doyle (ret.)

Recently retired after 22 years on the bench, Judge Theresa Doyle is now available for mediations and arbitrations. She brings her reputation as an excellent trial judge, with experience presiding in civil litigation in all areas of Washington law. She received the Judge of the Year award from the Washington State Association for Justice in 2016. She holds a certificate in mediation from the prestigious American Judges Association, and she has extensive experience in conducting settlement conferences. Judge Doyle looks forward to using her experience and training to help parties control the outcome of their legal disputes.

“Judge Theresa Doyle served as one of King County’s most respected judges. On the bench, she was thoroughly prepared, fair, and respectful of the parties who appeared before her. Critically as she now pursues mediation, she showed empathy and understanding for the parties and the problems that brought them to court. As a mediator, Judge Doyle will help the parties with a deep understanding of how jurors are likely to perceive issues. I look forward to mediating with Judge Doyle.”
— Ian Birk, Keller Rohrback

“For years, Judge Doyle was a smart, decisive, even-tempered and compassionate trial judge with the King County Superior Court.  While we were greatly dismayed to hear that she was leaving the bench, we are fortunate that Judge Doyle has chosen to dedicate the next phase of her career to mediating cases, where she can continue to use her unique skills to help parties in civil disputes resolve their claims.  We are confident that Judge Doyle will be as effective a mediator as she was a judge.  We very much look forward to hiring her.”

Having known Ret. Judge Doyle since her first days on the King County Superior Court bench, it is easy to see that she has the qualities of a successful mediator;  patience, good judgment, and the ability to establish meaningful connections with people. No doubt she will bring these skills to bear and do the work necessary to bring parties together and resolve disputes.

  • Plaintiffs want a mediator who will listen and make them feel they have been heard.
  • Defendants want a mediator who understands value and risk.
  • All parties want a mediator who aids them in looking at the strengths and weaknesses of their case and in overcoming obstacles that stand in the way of a durable resolution to their dispute.

“ Colleen has settled every case I have mediated with her including at least one that was 'impossible' to settle. Her demeanor puts parties at ease while her knowledge and experience gives them the confidence they need to make the best decision. Simply put, Colleen gets the case resolved and I highly recommend her services.”
 — George Mix, Mix Sanders, PLLC

"I wanted to extend a personal thanks for your efforts yesterday, and to give 5-stars to the Zoom application. It worked great. That is the future . . . actually, the present!!"
— Michael McCormack, Bullivant Houser

“Colleen is a top notch mediator. She works very hard to get the case settled, including putting in time both before the mediation to get familiar with the issues and after the mediation for follow up work if necessary. Her experience as a defense attorney makes her very respected in both rooms. I always enjoy working with Colleen because she works hard, she gets the job done, and she is great with clients.”
